I love Guy de Maupassant. I love Guy de Maupassant. I am obsessed with him. I am French, French-speaking, read all three versions of ''Le Horla''. Studied ''Aux Champs'' at school. Read him. I don’t care. Read a translation, a summary, or somethigng. watch an adaptation if you want. Please he willl change yoyur perception of reality. In ''Le Horla'' he does so by making the reader think about the limitedness of one’s senses and how that may make seemingly impossible beings like the ‘Horla’ exist without anyone noticing or even wondering. his subltle use of a well structured story makes it impossible to know whther ''it'' exists or does not, and is thus simply madness in the narrator’s mind that made him insane to the point of burning his whole house down.
