Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike is a series of first-person-shooter games and gambling games disguised as first-person-shooters. It was initially created by Minh Le and Jess Cliffe[1] as a mod for the game Half-Life.
As they expanded the game, it was bought out by Valve Software who helped develop the game. In fact, Steam was mainly created for automatic downloads because people had to manually get updates from the Valve website for Counter-Strike[2].
